Layering a Holiday Table

I hate to be the bearer of reality news, but Halloween is this weekend… this means that as of Sunday November 1st, the Holiday Entertaining season is upon us.  I know.  Where did the year go?!  So as I am finishing up a little Halloween costume, I am also scheming color palettes & entertaining necessities for both Thanksgiving & Christmas.

Obviously I am someone who never repeats the same exact table each year, there are a few go to, must have pieces that I think everyone should have at their disposal.  The first (& my personal favorite) is a tablecloth.  There is no easier way to make any occasion feel instantly special, then by adding a tablecloth.  Luckily, tablecloths seem to be everywhere while shopping this season!  So keep your eye out.  If investing in a new tablecloth, going with a neutral color or a coordinating solid adds versatility from year to year & can easily be dressed in various ways.  My other favorite trick is using flat sheets as the tablecloth.

Oh!  And if you have no clue what size tablecloth to get, this tool is genius!!  Great visual display of what you will want to get (& avoid!)

Another specialty item I like to pull out when entertaining is Salt Cellars.  If you are not sure what a Salt Cellar is, it is basically just a little bowl that you put your salt in.  Now I am sure that you have already seasoned your food perfectly, but just in case your guests would like a little additional flavor a Salt Cellar is a little more fancy than a regular salt shaker.   These marble ones above are already on their way to my Christmas table (they are on backorder…) but at $24 I could not pass them up.

Another beautiful deal are these napkin rings from Nate Berkus for Target.  I love the gem detail & the fact that they are 15% off today only! Bonus.  Be sure to use the code OCTOBER.

What is the one thing you want to be adding to your table this year?!  I'd love to know.
