Monogram Wreath Video
Post and giveaway sponsored by The Home Depot, but all opinions are my own.
I mentioned a week or so ago that I was participating in the Home Depot Do It Herself Workshop & let me tell you all… it was a blast! We all built Pinterest Inspired Monogram Wreaths like I had shown in the previous post. I was so impressed by not only the turn out of lovely ladies, but their eagerness to learn & get behind the power tools. There was literally a line of participants waiting to get their hands on those Ryobi & Dremel Tools.
I was so inspired by their creativity that I decided to create my own version of the monogram wreath… Check out my little video on my Monogram Laurel Wreath.
Excited to make your own right!?!? I tried to make it extra dramatic for the holiday season #winkwink
Here are the materials you will need:
Embroidery Hoop
3/16″ MDF or Plywood
Jigsaw
Sand Paper
Gold Metallic Spray Paint
Martha Stewart Living Glitter Paint
Paint Brush
White Paper (Cardstock preferred)
Stainless Steel Contact Paper
Scissors
Ribbon
I started by tracing out my letter “J” onto my MDF… (I started with Plywood, but realized I needed a bigger piece than what I had). Carefully, cut out your letter using your jigsaw & sand the edges when completed. (You could also hand cut out of Cardboard if you don’t have access to power tools)
Once my letter was created, I gave it a quick coat of Gold Spray Paint to make the gold glitter stand out more. I then applied a few layers of the Gold Glitter Paint with a foam brush until I received the coverage I wanted. While that dried, I began to cut out my leaves…
I used my paper cutting machine to cut both the cardstock & the contact paper to speed up the process, but you could also do this by hand. I like the idea of the leaves having a little more of an organic quality. Once I had a lot cut out, I began to add the smaller silver contact paper leaves on half of my white leaves. This added just a hit of holiday sparkle. I folded the ends of each leaf to give it a more three dimensional quality & began gluing them on my embroidery hoop. I simply layered them, intermixing the plain white with the silver leaves until I had a full appearance to my wreath.
I added a long strand of grosgrain ribbon to the bottom of the wreath & attached my letter with a little clear fishing line. And voila! Done.
I was really pleased to be a part of the #DIHWorkshop & am so proud of all the Do It Herselfers that showed up to participate! Here are a few images from the event.

I was so excited to make my monogram wreath at Home Depot a couple Thursdays ago! I signed my mom up with me…we get there, and no one knows what we're talking about. No one had any idea. Clueless. The Workshop was on this San Antonio location's website, and I even had a confirmation email, but the most response I got was "you mean like one of the workshops for kids". So frustrating! But still love that you posted some great ideas and hopefully I can find someone to cut out the letters for me since I don't have the tools needed.
That looks great! I was the only person to show up to my workshop and we never decorated my letter π It was cool to test the tools out for sure
