End Table Revamp
While thrifting a few weeks ago, I came across an end table. Or at least what I thought was an end table. After getting the gentleman sitting in the chair next to it to lift his arm off of it… I discovered it was actually a vintage sewing table…. more on that later.
The lines were classic & clean. The proportions were there. And the price was right. I scooped it up.
Thanks to an Instagram filter (this baby looked far better in the picture… Anyone who has done a selfie knows what I am talking about!) Initially intending to take the wood to a different stain I began to inspect the piece further… There were scratches & dings, all things I could live with after a little sanding, but upon further investigation I realized the applied moulding was plastic… Bummer. Also, the pulls while very pretty & full of potential were light weight & flimsy… & I am a hardware snob.
So I pulled out the paint sprayer & went on with plan B & I have to say, this has turned into one of my favorite transformations ever.
With the addition of a little paint, some mirrored panels & some of the most beautiful pulls I have ever seen, this little sewing table got one glam makeover.
These gorgeous Starburst Pulls are designed exclusively for Pulp Home & they are little works of art.
A classic design that will stand the test of time. Love.

I have always wanted to include a mirrored piece into our home, but the price was never right. This was an easy update that instantly added a high end look to a simple table. I had our local hardware store cut the mirror to size (for $1.40 a square!) then I drilled a hole through the center using a glass drill bit. I am having to hold myself back from mirroring ever drawer in sight it was so easy.
While we will be using this as an end table for now, the goal is to actually fill the housing with a sewing machine lift (as our table was missing the hardware) and place our 1921 Singer Sewing Machine inside the table. I would love to make this as functional as it is beautiful!
Hi!
New follower I love this idea! I'm hooked on the mirrored furniture I've been seeing all over.
Christine
Beautiful result! Love turning a cheap, dated piece into a usable and pretty show stopper. Now I have to find a place to use that hardware!
LOVE!! that is one beautiful piece now!!! i recently gave my antique sewing machine table a make-over…but i'm DYING over yours! π
Wow! What a gorgeous transformation! Once you get it all fixed up, that will easily be the most glamorous sewing table there ever was!!
LOVE! just recently revamped my antique sewing machine table…but i'm dying over yours!! π
Well…I have to say…I had said on IG I liked those original pulls but after seeing these starburst supermodels, I straight up hate the old ones π I have been wanting to mirror my nightstands for ages. As soon as we move to our next house (hopefully soon) I am doing it!! How did you attach the mirror panels? Liquid Nails?
Ha! I knew I'd win y'all over! The mirror is held in place by the knobs alone since they are so small… but if they were a bit larger I would have used some Mirror Adhesive as to not pull the finish off of the mirror backing.
I am in love with those Starburst pulls. They are gorgeous. And normally I'm not a huge fan of the mirrored pieces of furniture I have been seeing in stores but this is just enough to make the piece beautiful. I think it will be even more amazing with an antique Singer in it.
What a great makeover! I'm loving it.
WOW! That turned out well! those starburst pulls are gorgeous, but I could never bring myself to pay $75 each, have you ever seen anything similar but more affordable?
They are an investment, but if I were to average them out with the money invested in the piece already I still come out better than finding a new piece that also would not have the character. I am a huge proponent of mixing the high with the low but completely understand your statement.
That is outrageous to pay $225.00 for three drawer pulls!!
Thanks so much! They are definitely an investment, similar to a good piece of jewelry and can completely transform a piece. We'd love to extend a 15% discount to Kristin's readers….

Ok, this puts the before to shame! Dang! Those knobs might be the most beautiful things I've ever seen, and the glass makes such a difference! I looked around Pulp Home a bit too…what a great collection of things!
AWESOME makeover! Man, I would have overlooked that piece. You have vision, girl. Love it. π
Just lovely! Those pulls are out of this world!
Great job Kristin. You definitely put your spin on this piece and it turned out amazing. I love those pulls and the mirrored pieces really make them shine.
Fab!
Those mirrors are perfect! I actually scooped up an old sewing machine in its original cabinet from my neighbors trash a few years ago and gave it a quick makeover. I love having it out in the open in our house. It isn't quite the show stopper that your is, but who could compete with those pulls and mirrors?!?!
Wow, the pulls are so stunning. I'd love it if they'd be available in gold too.
Hi Julia! We do actually have a handful of Brass pulls that we plated but haven't put online yet… You can special order them by emailing contact [at] pulphome [dot] com!
Thanks for getting back to me.
Great makeover! I love those drawer pulls!! Amazing results!
Absolutely gorgeous! The pulls and the mirrors are perfection.

Great inspiration. I have a little end table that might just work with this. I do have a question. What can you tell me about the little mirrors? Are they peel and glue? Did you get them from a Hobby Lobby type place? Did you have to drill a hole in them? Also, I want to make sure I read the price of the pulls correctly when I went to the site. Are they $75 a piece??? They are beautiful, but I don't think I could pay that – kind of defeats the purpose of thrift shopping. I might have to find some knocks-offs π They are beautiful, though, and certainly make the piece.
Michelle! Don't do knock offs… We'll throw you a bone! π

Thank you! This is the bone I needed. Plus, I only really need two, so we'll see. I do need Kristin to respond on if she had to drill holes in the mirrors, though.
Hi Michelle! As I mentioned in the post, I got the mirrors at our local hardware store (they provide & cut the mirror) I used a glass & tile drill bit (which can be found at any hardware store as well) & drilled the holes myself. It was really easy to do. Some glass companies will drill the holes for you… but usually at an escalated rate of about $10 a hole! My Mirrors are simply attached with the knobs as they are a smaller size. Had they been larger I would have used a Mirror Adhesive which will not take off the reflective backing. But this way, the piece does not always have to be mirrored if I decide to change it in the future. The one thing with mirrored fronts to be careful with is to not tightened your pull too tight. This will crack the glass. Best of luck.
Gorgeous! The pulls, the mirror the EVERYTHING.
I could not love your sparkly, re-done table more if it was dipped in chocolate. Or wine. Nice work, K.
gorgeous. love the shiny mirror mixed with those amazing pulls. looks much more modern.
This is gorgeous! One of those projects where everything just came together perfectly. Beautiful job!
This is so lovely! I adore mirrored furniture too π

Gorgeous! I love the idea of making your own mirrored furniture…the stuff in stores is always too expensive and a little "much." This is perfect! What paint color did you use?
Oh those pulls…can you say stunning?!? I have been wanting to add a mirrored piece to our house for awhile now and just haven't found the right piece for the right price. I will have to remember this…I had no idea it was so cheap to get a piece of mirror cut at the hardware store. Good to know! π
AWESOME WORK, KRISTEN! We love love love it! We will be spreading the word on this amazing makeover shortly… Our pulls look amazing on your piece. Loving the mirrored touch!
